Transport Information
This page will provide you with some information and ideas in case you
can not come to visit my home and rabbitry to pick up a bunny in
person.
I still highly suggest that you do try to make arrangements to travel
and visit me in person, a lot of valuable information and demo's will
be offered to any customer that takes the time to visit our home for a
bunny pick up. I can help with hotel reservations in our small town,
Forsyth is located on Interstate I-75 and we have several good
Hotels to choose from.
Many customers have used a holiday weekend to travel here, stay one
night, pick up a bunny and then travel home, I have had visitors from
as far as NYC.
- Another
option I offer to folks that can not travel, meet me at a Rabbit show
that I might plan to attend. I have a list of shows on this
website, subject to change if I have to change plans. Contact me
asap and see if I can transport a particular bunny to a show and meet
you at that show. I can furnish as much info on directions to the show
hall and Hotel information as I have myself from the show catalog.
In general I do not take sales bunnies with me to shows, to save
them from the stress, so please contact me ahead of time and tell
me to bring a bunny that you'd be interested in. BEST scenario: make
reservations for a bunny and pay a 50% deposit on it to hold it.
- Another
option that I can offer is a ride for a bunny to the Savannah GA area.
A good friend and fellow Rabbit Breeder lives in that area, and comes
to visit me often. With prior arrangement, I can arrange a
ride with her, and you can meet her at her home or at a specified
location along her way. This might work out well for folks from
FL.
- Last but
not least, one option is to ship the Bunnies via Air Cargo with a
Airline. This is the most expensive way to receive bunnies, but
sometimes the only way .
I ship bunnies out of Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta GA,
and prefer to use only one Carrier, Frontier Cargo. They have the best
prices, less paperwork and rules and have always taken good care of
bunnies I had shipped and received.
YOU need to locate an airport in your area that is serviced by
Frontier Airlines, and be willing to drive to that airport to pick up
the rabbits. Due to time and extra costs involved for me, I have
a minimum order of 3 Rabbits in order to make it worth for me to
ship. I DO NOT charge extra for time and gas .... only for actual
expenses involved. Air Cargo shipping involves the following extra
costs, to be paid for by the buyer:
- Health certificate issued
by my Vet , currently $15.00 per bunny.
- Airline approved Rabbit Transport
cage ( with 3 compartments if shipping adults, larger plastic
kennel will be fine for 3 babies.) The cost will have to be paid
for by the buyer. The carrier will be yours along with the
bunnies. YOU can purchase one and ship it to me, you can pay me
to purchase one locally, it needs to be discussed.
- Feed and water dishes inside the
carrier ( each bunny has to have a food and water dish
attached to the carrier, if I have free tuna cans, I'll use those, if
not, you'll have to pay me if I have to buy something ).
- actual freight charges for
shipping the Rabbits. Normally I ship COD, that way you,
the buyer, will pay for freight charges when you pick up the bunnies.
Let me know if you want insurance on the shipment as well. Last
time I shipped, it cost $ 150.00 to ship 3 bunnies inside one plastic
Vari Kennel , shipping charges are according to size of the container
and / or weight, which ever is higher.
- the
more rabbits you ship at one time, the cheaper the total cost PER BUNNY
will get, one bunny can cost $ 100.00 to ship, 3 bunnies costs me
$150.00, a big savings.
With metal Rabbit transport cages, I can attach 2 cages on top of
each other and ship as many as 6 bunnies as one package.
